During week 9 we needed to prepare for our presentation and so we met up to decide what we each should do. My focus was on creating renders and turntables for our props and scenes.
Turntable
First I did turntables for our main key props, this was done by selecting the model, in this case a sword, entering the front view camera to ensure it was perfectly level.
Then we set the mode to animation and click the square next to create turntable button within the visualise menu, this opens options allowing us to set our total maximum frames to 120. This allows us to rotate the camera around a point (the sword) over a period of time indicated by the bar at the bottom of the viewport.
We then need to click the running man icon at the bottom right of the screen to open the playback settings. Then we change it from play every frame to play 30 frames per second under the other option.
Next we set the mode to rendering and select the render option, from there we click render settings. We then set the mode to maya software, the resolution to HD 1080 and set the render able camera to the turntable. Then we choose the batch render option which causes photos to be taken and deposited into a file which combined represent a video. These images are then combined into a Gif using an online Gif maker.
Track Camera
Then I made the camera on a track, this works by first creating a camera and then creating a curve (using the CV curve tool). Once these are both made and the path is satisfactory we select both and click the constrain option then click motion path and attach to motion path, this causes the camera to become attached to the curve and move along it based on the current playback time. We then select the camera and break it's relationship on it's rotation. This allows us to move to different points in the camera trail and set what angle the camera is looking at by simply pausing at the playback moment and manually rotating the camera then right clicking on the rotation values and selecting the key option. Finally we re-enter render settings and change the renderable camera to the one on the track and select batch render creating a new video as shown below:
I also used the remainder of my time before the presentation needed to be recorded to plan out alongside the group what information each slide should contain and what we should say.
