Overview

This week I worked on making a range of different types of stalactites for our Roki scene. I also worked on improving my stalactites so that they fit more with the Roki art style. I also wanted to utilise the tips from the week 3 lecture and use a soft poly cube to create the stalactites instead of the cylinder and cone shapes I was using before.

Different types of Stalactites

Stalactite Type A
Stalactite Type E

Stalactite Type B
Stalactite Type D
Stalactite Type C

These are the group of stalactite types I create for the Roki scene to place in the foreground and background. Each has a unique shape that can be used in the scene more than once because they are different types and shapes of stalactites.

Group of Stalactites

I created varied types of stalactites and combined them together in what I think they would be presented like in the Roki scene. I think they look very accurate to stalactites however I don't think they fit the art style as much as I'd like them to. I also think they are too sharp and not rounded enough. This inspired me to recreate and improve the stalactites using the tips I had learned in Week 3.

Improved Stalactite

I created this stalactite from a soft cube which is a basic cube which is smoothed once to create a shape which has much more simple geometry. I think this an improvement on the stalactite prop as it fits much more with the art style of Roki and looks quite accurate to an stalactite in shape and detail.
