Week 2 - Planning/Designing

meekin-s

For this week we had to start designing what our environment will look like as well as the characters. I was tasked with making the wolf character. I had to design the character in Röki's art style which uses very simplified shapes and uses flat colours as well.

I then proceeded to start modelling a nose that was part of a task that was set for character artists. To practise modelling for the first time I used the character Tove from Roki as a starting place. I used a cube shape and then smoothened the edges to make a sphere. I then used the grab tool to sculpt the sphere into a shape that resembles Tove's nose.

I then followed the task that the character designers had to follow which is to make the nose for our character. I then started to proceed.

I was able to create the overall shape of the nose by selecting the edges and extruding them. I then used the vertices to re-aline them so that the nose was connected together. I used this method to do the top part of the nose.

When it came to the bottom part i had to use the same method, but there were some areas that i couldn't extrude so i used the Bridge/ Fill tool to help me out.

Once I got the overall shape shorted i then had to duplicate the nose by selecting all the vertices along the edge. I then moved the pivot point in the middle of the nose. I then duplicated the nose and set the scale to -1 in the X Scale in the channel box. I then dragged the 2 nose pieces together and combined them to make 1 piece.
