This game is Blaze Maze Racing. It is a racing game where the player races three laps around the race track and aim to get the fastest record. The player will have to drive along the track for three laps, the payer will avoid and destroy boulders to progress and use the drift to manoeuvre around tough corners.

Mechanics

Movement

The movement I wanted to be very quick so the player could steer instantly as they decide to move left and right.
I used a chaos vehicle component to create the basic vehicle moving system and adjusted the speeds so that it was how I liked it using the torque curve and vehicle movement variables.

Attacking

I made the attack so that the player could destroy boulders as objects in the way so attacking and movement would both be mechanics the player had to focus on to make gameplay more entertaining and difficult.

Drifting

I made drifting a mechanic so that players would have to be able to utilise the drift around tight corners so the player has to juggle between speeding up, attacking obstacles and drifting to manoeuvre around corners.

Level 1 Draft

This was my first draft of the first level race track, I wanted to get the overall shape before moving onto the design of the race track. I was able to create points where the player would have to prioritise attacking, speeding up and drifting around corners using this draft.

Level 1 Final

The final version of my first level introduced hills which go up and down to build momentum and a similar layout as the draft but implemented more of the design focus and environmental hazard placements.
